Spring cometh. Ish.

I must admit to being slightly neglectful of my blog in recent days. It has been a mixture of having been a little busy at work, having a lot of fun from my time with Sweetie in London up till chilling with Radzi over the weekend, to just coming home and wanting to do nothing that is remotely related to utilising cerebral function. Oh, and a little bit of studying as well.

I have been eating out rather often as well, savouring the gastronomic delights that have been available and this has kind of gone against my mental promise of saving a little bit more money. But the side of me that lives to eat (and believe you me, it’s a huge side of me) then reminds me that you only live once and you might as well enjoy all that is on offer, especially if it’s in the company of special people.

Of the recent meals I’ve had, the ones at Blackfriars (supposedly the oldest dining hall in Britain) over the weekend and One-o-One with Sweetie particularly stands out. The latter was a slightly nostalgic trip back for Sweetie and me, as it is a seafood restaurant that we chose to go to rather randomly during one of our previous trips to London. After which we found out that we were woefully underdressed for a French restaurant in which the waiters take particular pride in describing every detail of a meal’s preparation as it’s presented. It’s also probably the only place where we’ve been presented with an amuse gueule (something we learnt off Friends!). As before, the place was impeccable in service and decor, and the food was simply delectable.

Other places that are worth mentioning include Pasha (a wonderfully decorated Moroccan restaurant in which the lamb meshwi for two was enough to feed a family of five), Troubadour (atmospheric little tavern-like cafe which somehow managed to make dipping carrots into hummous rather yummy) and a little birthday dinner at The Witchery in Edinburgh, which prides itself with the number of celebrity endorsements that it received.

Sweetie and I also played tourist whilst in London – this included spending a small fortune during the post X-mas sales and having a rather enjoyable time going up on the London Eye. The views at night are rather pretty, which is not surprising as that has always been its main selling point. Which makes one wonder why a similar ‘wheel’ that was built at Tasik Titiwangsa had a ‘VIP’ booth with a refrigerator, telly and DVD player in it. Perhaps they were planning to play views of what could have been seen if things weren’t so hazy outside.

I can’t actually believe that it’s February already. Time really flies when you’re having fun and even when you’re not. Before long winter will be over and stories of babies flying out of prams due to severe winds should be in the past (and no, I’m not kidding...it actually happened somewhere in the north of England). I better log off now as my stop is at the next station. Don’t think there’s much to look forward to over the next week except a string of long shifts at work and (fingers crossed) a victory for Obama over Hilary for the Democratic presidential candidacy.
