Malam pertama

A few days ago, a little girl was found in a bag in PJ, having been sexually assaulted and then murdered by an unknown individual who's obviously destined for the deepest pits of hell. My heart and prayers goes out to the poor child, who was barely old enough to know the ways of the world before being subjected to the cruelty of that can be manifested by animals parading as human beings.

To my horror, I found out yesterday that the chief of police has announced to all and sundry that the courts should consider trying the parents for negligence. This despite the parents having worked their arses off to try and find their little angel whilst the police probably just added her name to the list of children that have already gone missing this year. Have they not gone through enough? And even if you are considering prosecuting someone for whatever reason, is that how you announce it?

Stigmatizing the victims is merely a method of distracting the public's eye away from the incompetencies of the force. What's the point of the CID chief taking over the case and inspecting the scene of the abduction days after it has happened? Why did they have to wait until the image of a little girl's body was splashed across the papers before doing something about it?

Arrgh.

Reading stories like this just reinforces my view that humanity is doomed to fuck itself over. Or maybe I'm just moody from finishing my first night shift.
